« | The P38 is a 9x19mm semi-automatic pistol intended to replace the Luger P08 in World War 2. The P38 is fed by an 8-round magazine and ejects empty casings to the left. P38's were carried by SOG operators with fitted suppressors for clandestine ops. Field Manual

The P38 is a 9 mm handgun used by several BLUFOR and REDFOR factions in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The P38 is a short-recoil operated, locked-breech pistol. It is chambered to fire the 9×19 mm cartridge.
It feeds exclusively from 8-round magazines, and can attain a fire rate of approximately ~ 461 rounds per minute[CfgWp 7][Formula 1] with a muzzle velocity of 280 m/s.[CfgWp 8] The P38 does not accept being fitted with optical sights and cannot be dual-wielded with a flashlight. However, it is possible to attach a dedicated suppressor to its muzzle (this suppressor is interchangeable with PPKs).[CfgWp 9]
Ironsights[]

The P38's ironsights are set to a fixed zeroing of 50 metres.[CfgWp 10] Zeroing for the P38's ironsights cannot be manually adjusted.

Trivia[]
- The P38 was not originally included as part of the DLC's launch content and was only added after the release of Update 1.3.[1]
- When the P38 was initially added in Update 1.3, it incorrectly used a slowed down version of the MX assault rifle's reloading animation. This resulted in a strange sequence where the user attempted to pull out the pistol's magazine from an invisible magwell, and then hit a non-existent bolt release after a fresh "magazine" was loaded.
- This visual bug was finally fixed in Update 1.31, which not only assigned the P38 its proper reloading animation, but also addressed its missing safety animation and adjusted its resting position when the pistol was holstered.[2]

Notes[]
- ↑ Only applies to the magazine itself. The P38's weapon class has its own initSpeed value defined (280 m/s).
- ↑ This is the P38's actual muzzle velocity. The weapon class initSpeed value (280 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (320 m/s).
- ↑ Damage will be reduced if the projectile's velocity drops below this value.
- ↑ This is the actual penetration depth of the P38's 9 mm ammunition. The weapon class initSpeed value (280 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (320 m/s), affecting its penetration formula as a result.
