OUTDATED: The information in this article is currently out-of-date and needs to be updated with newer information based on changes from a recent patch.

The P601 is used by both East German military forces and borderguards, as well as with East German civilians in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.

Overview[]

  • Roles:
    • Troop transport
    • Civil transportation
    • Law enforcement
    • Postal delivery
« The P601 is the East German answer to the West German Typ 1200. Its purpose was to provide a cheap but reliable car that was affordable to the general population.

Features
Excluding the baseline vehicle, four additional variants of the P601 exist: one used by East German firefighting brigades, another by the Volkspolizei, one by East German post delivery services, and one used by both the National People's Army and borderguard patrol units.

For extra illumination at night or for target spotting purposes, the passenger seated in the front-right seat of military, firefighting and police P601s has the ability to activate a searchlight.

Crew Capacity
Regardless of whether it is for military or civilian use, P601s have enough seats for a driver and up to four passengers. It should be noted that the fourth "passenger" is not actually seated and lies curled up in the car's boot space instead.

Variants[]

Baseline civilian version. Can transport up to four passengers.

Exclusive to East German civilian fire brigades.

Retains an identical seating capacity to regular P601s but has a siren/loudspeaker and lightbar fitted onto the roof. This variant features a usable searchlight that the front-right passenger can activate.

Utilised by East German law enforcement officers. This variant also features a searchlight that the front-right passenger can toggle.

Only used by East German post deliverymen. This variant does not have the ability to activate a searchlight.

Military version used by conventional Nationale Volksarmee forces and the Grenztruppen (borderguards).

A lightbar and sirens can optionally be fitted onto the rooftop. As with its firefighting/police counterparts, the front-right passenger on this variant has the ability to activate a searchlight if needed.

Camouflage[]

NOTE: P601s have additional camouflage schemes for non-East German BLUFOR and REDFOR nations. Please note that these nations are not actually featured as playable factions in the DLC.

American[]

NOTE: Not featured as a playable faction.

Civilian[]

East German[]

Soviet[]

NOTE: Not featured as a playable faction.

Protection[]

Military and civilian P601s alike share the same base armour value of 40. Although it is not strictly classified as a civilian-only vehicle, P601s cannot be retrofitted with addon armour modules.

Body[]

The car's body can only withstand a maximum of 40 points of damage before its integrity fails. It takes 150% additional damage from high-explosive (HE) type munitions. 100% of incoming damage will always be shared with the P601's main "health" pool.

Engine[]

Its engine can only take 18 points of damage before it fails. It does not take additional damage from HE-type munitions but also does not reduce any damage. No damage inflicted upon the engine will be shared with the car's "health" pool.

Fuel tank[]

The car's fuel tank can withstand just 10 points of damage before it ruptures. It takes 150% increased damage from HE-type munitions. Damage inflicted upon the fuel tank is never shared with the P601's main "health" pool.

Wheels[]

Each of the P601's four wheels can take up to 20 points of damage before their tyres burst. They take 400% additional damage from HE-type munitions. At least 30% of incoming damage to any of the wheels will be shared with the car's "health" pool.

Components[]

  • Add Sirenlights: Attaches a beacon to the car's roof. Enabling this component will allow the driver to turn the blue light beacons on/off. The sirens can also be optionally activated alongside the light beacons.[note 1]

Trivia[]

  • Just like ArmA 2's Hatchback, the fifth passenger is amusingly "seated" inside the P601's boot. Unless they utilise a third person camera mode, they will not be able to see anything outside of the car while in transit.
  • Following Update 1.3, conventional military and border guard P601s were specifically suffixed with Patrol as part of their display name. MP versions also no longer have the lightbar/sirens attached by default and must be manually mounted using the Virtual Garage.[1]
  • Alternate U.S. and Soviet military camouflage schemes were added after Update 1.5's release.[2]

Notes[]

  1. This component is not available to baseline versions of the civilian P601.
