The PBX is an inflatable rubber boat featured in both ArmA: Armed Assault and ArmA 2.
ArmA: Armed Assault[]
The PBX Boat is used exclusively by the SLA in ArmA: Armed Assault.

Design[]
The PBX is a single engine, small inflatable boat that is designed to be used for maritime and riverine operations in shallow waters.
Features
Used by the SLA for amphibious assaults, it is faster than its American counterpart, the CRRC, and is perfect for infiltrating troops onto unprotected shorelines discreetly. Since the PBX is completely unarmed and lacks armour plating, both the boat and its passengers are completely vulnerable to enemy fire. It should be kept out of danger unless it's absolutely necessary to do so, as even small arms fire will quickly sink the PBX to the bottom of the sea.
Drawbacks
The only drawback of the PBX is that can carry one less passenger compared to the CRRC.[A1CfgV 1], This limits the PBX to serving as a one-way infiltration craft for an infantry unit, as there isn't enough room for both a driver and all members of the fire team to be transported at once.
Crew Capacity
Aside from the driver, the PBX has a maximum seating capacity of three passengers.[A1CfgV 1]
Protection[]
The PBX Boat has a base armour value of 20.[A1CfgV 3]
Engine[]
The engine can take a maximum of 24 points of damage before it suffers from failure.[A1CfgV 4][Formula 1] 100% of incoming damage will always be shared with the PBX Boat's main "health" pool.[A1CfgV 5]
AI[]

Camouflage rating[]

The PBX Boat has a camouflage[1] rating of 2.[A1CfgV 6]
Cost[]
- Main article: AI Basics: Targeting priority
The PBX Boat has a cost[2] value of 10000.[A1CfgV 7]
Threat values[]
- Main article: AI Basics: Targeting priority
The PBX Boat is considered to be a low-risk threat[3] to AI-controlled infantry units and ground vehicles (0.2/0.2).[A1CfgV 8]
Aircraft on the other hand, consider the PBX Boat to be a very low risk threat (0.1). They will not attack the PBX Boat unless there are no other more viable targets within range.[A1CfgV 8]
Noise factor[]
- Main article: AI Basics: Detection
The PBX Boat has an audible[4] factor of 6.[A1CfgV 9]
Trivia[]
- The PBX is the only non-BLUFOR/INDFOR vessel available in Armed Assault.
- Patch 1.02's release fixed numerous bugs for Armed Assault's PBX Boat:[5]
- The PBX Boat was partially treated as an amphibious vehicle and could "swim" while on land until the driver stopped accelerating.
- If the PBX Boat was destroyed while it was on land, it would sink into the terrain like as if it was still floating above water.
- Players could not use their mouse to look around with the camera in either first or third person view if the PBX Boat was being driven with their keyboard.

ArmA 2[]
The PBX is used by both the Russian Armed Forces and Czech military forces in ArmA 2.
Overview[]

- Fast-attack

Design[]
The PBX returns in ArmA 2, and is identical both function and performance-wise to its predecessor in most aspects.
Features
Now operated by both the Russian and Czech military, the PBX continues to serve as an alternate counterpart to the larger CRRC. As with its predecessor, the PBX is slightly faster and has a higher turn rate but is otherwise identical in every other way. Neither the riders or the boat itself will survive long under heavy fire, as the PBX is purely intended to insert or drop troops off rapidly into battle.
Crew Capacity
The PBX supports a single driver and up to three passengers.[A2CfgV 1]
Protection[]
The PBX has a base armour value of 20.[A2CfgV 6]
Engine[]
The engine can take a maximum of 24 points of damage before it suffers from failure.[A2CfgV 7][Formula 2] 100% of incoming damage will always be shared with the PBX's main "health" pool.[A2CfgV 8]
Defensive sensors[]
The PBX is not equipped with defensive sensors. No warning will be issued to the boat's crew if there are guided weapons/projectiles that are attempting to lock onto it.[A2CfgV 9][A2CfgV 10]

Trivia[]
- ArmA 2's PBX simply reuses the same model used for its Armed Assault predecessor.
- Prior to the release of the Army of the Czech Republic DLC, the PBX was the only non-BLUFOR/civilian watercraft that was exclusive to an REDFOR faction in ArmA 2.
- Before Patch 1.03 for ArmA 2 was released (pre-Operation Arrowhead), grenades that exploded after they landed onto any part of the PBX would emit the wrong kind of particle effects.[6]
- When ArmA 2 was first launched, the PBX (like all other watercraft) would consume excessive amounts of bandwidth and server CPU power in an online multiplayer environment (this did not apply to PBXs in offline singleplayer). This was eventually corrected by the release of Patch 1.04.[7]

Notes[]
- ↑ The Armed Assault PBX Boat does not have the ability to store weapons and ammunition. It is possible to take items out of the PBX Boat but they cannot be placed back into the boat's inventory as it does not have enough slots to support them (both the transportMaxMagazines and transportMaxWeapons config tokens are set to a value of zero).
