The PK is a 7.62 mm general-purpose machine gun that remains unused by any faction in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The PK is a gas operated, belt fed medium machine gun chambered to fire the 7.62×54 mmR cartridge. It uses a long stroke gas piston and fires from an open bolt position.
It feeds exclusively from 100-round belts stored in metal boxes. The PK is able to attain fire rate of up to 600 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 860 m/s.
PKs cannot be customised with optical sights, bayonets, camouflage wraps or suppressors. However, their ironsights can be freely adjusted and zeroed between a minimum of 100 metres up to a maximum of 1,000 metres (adjustments are made with increments/decrements of 100 metres).
Variants[]
PK (Static)[]
Tripod-mounted PKs are designed to operate as static defence turrets. They can be mounted onto either raised or lowered tripods.
Raised versions can be freely rotated in all directions horizontally but have vertical elevation/depression limits of 30 degrees. The low tripod variant has a tighter rotation limit, allowing for a maximum of only 70 degrees horizontally and 35 degrees/20 degrees for elevation and depression, respectively.
Loadout also differs slightly depending on the tripod's configuration. Low tripod PKs have access to just nine belt boxes while high tripods have ten, providing a total capacity of either 900 (low) or 1,000 (high) rounds.
Upon disassembly, the turret will be broken down into a tripod and the weapon. However, only the tripod can be interchangeably used to reassemble a new turret; the weapon itself will determine whether the re-assembled turret is of either a low or raised turret configuration.
Lastly, it should be noted that static PKs have a slightly higher rate of fire compared to man-portable PKs. Specifically, they can attain fire rates of up to ~ 689 RPM as opposed to the man-portable PK's 600 RPM. Static PKs are also slightly more accurate and have ~ 18% reduced dispersion.
Ironsights[]

Melee[]
Only the man-portable PK allows for melee attacks. Melee attacks will involve striking at targets with a buttstroke. They can inflict up to 7 points of damage to a target if the buttstroke successfully connects.
It should be noted that melee attacks cost stamina, draining up to 12.1 points of stamina whenever a buttstroke is performed.[note 1]
Ammunition[]
Round type | Base damage value | Aerodynamic friction | Initial velocity (m/s) | Penetration depth (mm) |
---|---|---|---|---|
7.62×54 mm (Man-portable) | 12 | -0.00096 | 840 | 20.16 |
7.62×54 mm (Static) | 12 | -0.00096 | 900 | 21.6 |
PKs feed from two types of magazines, though they are limited to only one type depending on the configuration it is being employed as (static versus man-portable):
100Rnd. PK Belt (Man-portable)[]

100-round belt box used only by man-portable PKs. It has a weight of 40 "mass" units.
Every fourth round fired will be a visible tracer. Only the last five rounds of the belt will consist solely of tracer rounds.
100Rnd. PK Belt (Static)[]

Alternate 100-round belt box utilised exclusively on static PK turrets.
Unlike man-portable belts, rounds fired from the static-only version have a greater muzzle velocity of 900 m/s as opposed to 840 m/s. Its loadout has also been altered to include one visible tracer for every two rounds fired as opposed to four (the last five rounds are still exclusively tracers).
Trivia[]
- Only static and vehicle-mounted PKs are actually utilised by both the PAVN and Viet Cong. Outside of custom missions, the man-portable version is not carried by either of the factions by default.

Notes[]
- ↑ Stamina costs are calculated according to the following formula: (Weapon's "mass" * 0.04) * (Weapon's dexterity)
