The PMS (full name: Promet Modular Sight) is a riflescope used exclusively by the Livonian Defense Force in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Contact DLC.

Design[]

This is a premium asset that requires ownership of the Contact expansion pack.

The PMS is an integrated combat sight designed specifically for use with the LDF's Promet bullpup.[CfgWp 8]

It combines a magnified riflescope with a backup ironsight; all contained within a compact carrying handle. It is exclusively designed for the Promet family and cannot be mounted onto any other platform:

  • Promet bullpup assault rifle (6.5 mm; all sub-variants)
  • Promet MR bullpup marksman rifle (6.5 mm)

The primary scope on the PMS has a fixed magnification of 2x.[CfgWp 1][CfgWp 2][Formula 1] It uses an illuminated, green-coloured T-shaped post reticle that remains visible even while using thermal optics. Neither the riflescope nor the backup sight can be manually zeroed. The riflescope is restricted to 300 m[CfgWp 3][CfgWp 4] while the backup ironsight is locked to 200 m.[CfgWp 5][CfgWp 6]

It should be noted that mounting the PMS onto a Promet will increase its inertia penalty by +0.1.[CfgWp 9]

AI[]

NOTE: The information in this section only applies to the AI.

The PMS is classified[1] as a type 0 optical sight.[CfgWp 10] If the weapon is configured with AI-only firemodes[2], AI units that have the PMS mounted onto their weapon will have access to close range firemodes but not medium (type 1) and far (type 2) range firemodes.[3]

Camouflage[]

  • Olive: Olive green frame with black parts.
  • Black: Matte black paint finish.
  • Camo: Frame with woodland camouflage intended to mimic the LDF's Geometric pattern and black parts.
  • Sand: Frame with desert tan paint finish and black-coloured parts.

Trivia[]

  • The PMS appears to be loosely inspired by the integrated combat optical sight designed for HS Produkt's "VHS" bullpup assault rifle.[4]
  • It is the first riflescope-type attachment to combine the functionality of an optical sight with the appearance of a carryhandle (though the latter is merely cosmetic and has no effect on the weapon's handling).
  • Prior to a hotfix released for Game Update 2.02, the reticle markings on the primary scope would become blurred and difficult to see through under specific lighting conditions. The patch corrected this and refactored the model to use radial blurring instead of DoF (which can be adjusted separately).[5]
