The Pistol IR Flashlight is an infrared flashlight in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Reaction Forces Creator DLC.

Design[]

The Pistol IR Flashlight is a compact laser light module that is exclusively designed for use on handguns. It can be attached onto any pistol that has a compatible rail mount:

  • 4-five handgun (.45)
  • ACP-C2 handgun (.45)
  • G19 handgun (9 mm; both variants)
  • Zubr revolver (.45)

Unlike the regular Flashlight attachment, the Pistol IR Flashlight does not project a light beam that is visible to the naked eye. Its light beam can only be seen with the assistance of night vision goggles or a night vision-capable optical sight.[CfgWp 2]

Additionally, even though the Pistol IR Flashlight and its laser sight counterpart are visually identical, the two attachments are functionally considered to be standalone attachments. They must be fitted separately onto the weapon in order to project either an IR light or an IR laser.

Note that attaching a Pistol IR Flashlight onto a weapon will increase its inertia penalty by +0.1.[CfgWp 3]

Camouflage[]

  • Black: Matte black finish.

Trivia[]

  • In regular unmodified gameplay, the Pistol Flashlight is considered to be a standalone attachment that does not allow for the user to change whether it projects an IR light beam or a laser with the press of a key.
    • However, Reaction Forces' Pistol IR Flashlight is set up to be compatible with community-created custom addons that allow for switching between flashlight/laser projection modes. Should a supported addon like the "Community Based Addons" (or "CBA_A3" for short) be activated alongside the Reaction Forces Creator DLC, it will be possible to switch between the Pistol Flashlight and the Pistol IR Laser Pointer, thereby simulating its dual laser light feature.[1][2]
  • Update 1.0.1 applied minor texture improvements to the Pistol IR Flashlight's model, namely the addition of baked in shadows to give the model's textures more depth.[3]
The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
  • Without custom addons, it is not possible to toggle between the laser and flashlight versions of the Pistol IR Flashlight/Pistol IR Laser Pointer attachments. However, there are leftover config tokens[4] and scripts[5] that reference a non-existent script function, suggesting that an attempt at natively implementing the functionality into the DLC was possibly trialled at some point in development.
