Poland (short form: PL, formally the Polish People's Republic) is a REDFOR faction in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.

Overview[]

A contingent of Polish forces, comprised of motorised and mechanised infantry units from the Polish People's Army (Polish: Ludowe Wojsko Polskie), support their Warsaw Pact allies in the defence of East Germany's border regions.

Equipment[]

Camouflage schemes used by 1980s forces:
- Olive (Left)
- Winter (Right)

Polish troops utilise a standardised set of equipment and hardware shared alongside other Warsaw Pact armies, though some gear is tailored specifically to meet Polish military needs and doctrine.

Both conventional soldiers and SOF are issued camouflaged wz. 4652 field dress uniforms with webbing and load bearing rigs, along with wz. 67/75 steel helmets for head protection. Specialist infantry tend to don dust goggles to protect their eyes, while SchM-41M gasmasks are carried by all troops if NBC conditions are expected.

However, SOF tend to wear the lighter wz. 63 paratrooper helmet suited for airborne assaults whilst combat/logistical aviators are given the Soviet-made ZSh-3 flight helmet. Domestically-produced Ochra protective vests are also worn by SOF units in lieu of the load bearing rigs worn by conventional troops.

For deployments in arctic environments and/or snowy conditions, troops may opt to wear winter-camouflaged versions which - aside from the inclusion of liner gloves to keep the wearer warm, are better suited to blending into their surroundings.

Trivia[]

  • Poland was not included as part of the default factions available upon Global Mobilization's release and was only added after Update 1.1.[1]
    • Polish special operations units on the other hand, would not be included until Update 1.2.[2]
  • Prior to Update 1.6, Polish troops did not have access to protective vests as both conventional and SOF units only wore Tactical Suspenders. The patch's release would finally add the Ochra vest for exclusive use by Polish SOF units.[3]
