Rebreathers are ballistic-resistant vests used by BLUFOR, REDFOR and INDFOR factions in ArmA 3.
Overview[]
Worn by the combat divers of NATO, CSAT, the AAF, police divers and certain special operations units, Rebreathers utilise closed circuit mixed gas recycling to provide a constant supply of oxygen for the wearer. They have a total weight of 80 "mass" units[CfgWp 1] but do not provide any space for storing items.[CfgWp 2]
Although not specifically designed with resistance against ballistic projectiles in mind, Rebreathers are rated at Level I protection standards. They cover the wearer's diaphragm, abdomen and pelvic region (the wearer's chest is not protected).
On land, a Rebreather by itself will not do much aside from providing basic protection against pistol calibre rounds or a single 5.56 mm bullet. Once submerged beneath the water's surface however, Rebreathers will completely eliminate the need for the diver to catch their breath by resurfacing; the user can now stay underwater for an indefinite amount of time.[CfgWp 3]

Camouflage[]
- Black: All-black colour scheme with yellow strips. Used by NATO's combat divers, CTRG operatives and the Tanoan Gendarmerie.
- Khaki: Darkened khaki scheme with tan-coloured parts. Exclusive to CSAT frogmen.
- Olive: Olive green colour scheme with black-coloured components. Only utilised by the AAF's diver units.
Trivia[]
- Rebreathers should not be confused with the SCBA "backpacks" that were added in the Contact expansion pack. Unlike the former, the latter do not provide any functionality while the user is submerged.
- Prior to Game Update 2.08, the Rebreather's facemask and flippers would automatically be equipped even if the wearer was not actually submerged and was merely standing next to the water's surface.[1]
- Following the release of the Old Man mini-campaign/scenario, Tanoan Gendarmerie police divers are also depicted with using the Rebreather in limited numbers.[2][3]
- The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
- Alongside wetsuit uniforms, there is a fourth texture for the Rebreather that remains unused within the game files (Texture names: diver_equip_co.paa[4], diver_suit_co.paa[5]). It appears to use a unique two-tone dark green/grey-coloured version of CSAT's Hexacam pattern with olive green straps and black parts.
