The Repair Tool is a vehicle repair item in ARMA Reforger.

Overview[]

« Damaged vehicles can be fixed with a repair tool. On its own, it can only be used to make the most basic repairs. However, in proximity to a repair truck or vehicle maintenance point, it can restore vehicles to full working order.

The Repair Tool is universally shared by all three military factions and is also used by civilian mechanics. It has a weight of 0.2 kg[CmpIt 1], occupies 1x1 inventory slots[CmpIt 2], has a volume of 100 cm3[CmpIt 3], and has object dimensions of 5x5x5 cm.[CmpIt 4] They are free to obtain from Arsenal Box crates and do not have a Supply cost.[EnCat 1][EnCat 2][EnCat 3][EnCat 4]

As per its namesake, the Repair Tool is exclusively used to repair damage incurred by vehicles in the field and extinguish burning fires. So long as there are Supplies available nearby (whether from a supply depot or a repair truck), the user can apply partial fixes to various vehicle components.[CmpIt 5] This includes but is not limited to:

  • The vehicle's hull/body
  • The vehicle's engine(s)
  • Turret mechanisms (if present)
  • The vehicle's drive train
  • The vehicle's fuel tank(s)
  • Wheels and their tyres

Unlike ArmA 3's Toolkits, Repair Tools are not class-restricted and can be freely utilised by any soldier regardless of whether they are actually classified as an engineer or not.

However, there are two caveats to the Repair Tool's usage. The first being that it cannot be used to fix vehicles if there are no Supplies available within 15 metres of the user.[CmpIt 6] The second is that Repair Tools cannot fully fix damage to every component. If a component has incurred damage that is classified as being major or critical, then the Repair Tool will only be able to apply partial fixes.[CmpIt 7]

Right: Critical damage to this M1025's wheels/tyres can only be partially fixed

The degree to which the component is repaired is sufficient to get it running again but it is not enough to restore it to full performance.[CmpIt 7] In order to apply full repairs to a vehicle, the user must be standing next to a Light/Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Point or a dedicated repair truck (M923A1/Ural-4320).

Trivia[]

  • Reforger's Repair Tool can amusingly extinguish fires even though it is simply a handheld wrench. Once "extinguished", the flames will magically disappear even though the user isn't shown wielding a fire extinguisher nor chemicals that could otherwise be used to smother the flames.
  • The Repair Tool was not originally available in the Early Access and was only added into the game after the official Update 1.0 patch.[1]
  • When the Repair Tool was initially added, it would appear to float in mid-air if the user was unarmed and/or they were holding onto a grenade. This was eventually fixed after Update 1.0.0.53's release.[2]
