« | Cpl David Armstrong joins Everon's resistance group. Mission Description
|
» |
Rescue is the eighth mission of ArmA: Cold War Assault's Cold War Crisis campaign.
Diary[]
« | They're all dead! And I'm left here alone on Everon. Christ, I think this place is cursed. The Russians almost got me - and I'm only alive now thanks to Slava and the rest of these guerilla guys. But God only knows what's going to happen next. Apparently, we're going on some kind of mission. Then we'll meet up with the others and try to reach the main Resistance base. Slava's given me some info about the job ahead. Sounds completely crazy. But maybe my luck's gonna hold out. And at least these guys know what they're fighting for |

Overview[]
The player controls U.S. Army infantryman Corporal David Armstrong. Saved by the resistance fighters of the so-called Everon Freedom Alliance, Armstrong has decided to help the guerillas in liberating Everon from its oppressors.
Armstrong's role/class:
- Infantry / Rifleman
Default loadout:
There are no alternate pieces of equipment to choose from.
Objectives[]
Primary[]
- (1) Locate as many guards as you can
- (2) Don't let the hostages be harmed
- (3) Load the hostages on to the truck and rendezvous with the other group
Optional[]
N/A
Mandatory[]
- Armstrong must survive
- All civilians must be saved before you reach the meeting point
- Avoid collateral damage/friendly fire (must have a point score of 999 or more)
- Remain within the combat area
Walkthrough[]
Primary 1: Locate as many guards as you can[]
Use the pair of binoculars that you've been given to spot all of the troops in the village.
Armstrong must actually "call out" the units over the radio for this objective's conditions to be fulfilled. Once you've spotted all of the roaming enemy soldiers and vehicles the assisting squad, callsign Black Bear, will commence its attack alongside yours.
Enemy reinforcements will soon be arriving in the form of a second truck. Gun down both it and its passengers quickly before they can get into position. Then head for the parked truck in the centre of the village and board it alongside the remaining fighters and civilians.
Primary 2: Don't let the hostages be harmed[]
This primary objective runs concurrent with the first and last ones.
Be careful not to open fire on the civilians standing on the other side of the village by mistake or else you'll fail the mission instantly.
Primary 3: Load the hostages on to the truck and rendezvous with the other group[]
Before boarding the truck, make sure you grab some equipment off the fallen guerillas (if there are any) and enemy corpses. The RPG will particularly come in handy for the rest of this and the next mission.
Once everyone's aboard, your group leader will order the driver to head for coordinates Gc67. On arrival at the destination, you will be forced to disembark and make your way to the meeting point on foot.
Another enemy truck is following close behind along with a supporting BMP on the road. Take both of them out quickly before returning to formation. Run towards the camp to finish the mission.
Tips[]
- Swapping your M16A2 for a PK machine gun from one of the dead enemy machine gunners may be helpful as you will have no further opportunities to rearm the M16A2 (no allies or foes carry magazines for it).
