ArmA: Armed Assault's Royal Flush campaign follows the story of a team of mercenaries from the Black Element private military company, codenamed Royal Flush. It was added with the release of the Queen's Gambit expansion pack.

The PMCs are hired by the Sahrani monarchy to quell an anti-government uprising slowly spreading through the country following the death of its former King.

Timeline[]

Spy (28th October, 2007)[]

« An agent of the Sahrani Royal Intelligence Service has obtained valuable information on upcoming terrorist attacks and insurgentcy base locations. Your unit is tasked with successfully delivering him to our army base. »

Hired by the Queen, the mercenaries of Royal Flush arrive in the Kingdom of Sahrani. After being briefed by the Chancellor, they arrive at a quarry in the country's northern region. They fight off several insurgents and proceed to intercept a vehicle with the military's agent trapped inside. The agent provides them with a map with the location of the main insurgent base.

Base (29th October, 2007)[]

« Infiltrate the terrorist base and find the biological weapons! »

Under the cover of darkness, the mercenaries of Royal Flush proceed to the insurgent camp and swiftly eliminate most of the fighters, though some managed to flee in the chaos. Returning with ill news of their survival to the Chancellor, he angrily demands them to finish off the remaining insurgents. Royal Flush intercept the fleeing fighters but discover that they were being led by none other than Crown Prince Orlando, the true heir to the throne of the Kingdom. The Chancellor attempts to silence the Prince, but is prevented from doing so by Royal Flush. John Wicks is killed in the ensuing gunbattle, and Kurt Lambowski is promoted to the position of team leader. He agrees to join the insurgents and help the Prince reclaim his title.

Camp (30th October, 2007)[]

« The clock is ticking for the hostages in the Matamoros camp. Your unit is the only thing that stands between them and a mass order for gravestones. »

With the help of Royal Flush, the Orlando's rebels succeed in liberating one of the Queen's secret concentration camps located in Matamoros. Raoul Gonzales - the Prince's former adviser, is found and joins the rebels.

Genocide (30th October, 2007)[]

« The previous operation yielded important documents that imply the existence of another camp. The goal of this mission is to free the prisoners. »

Another camp has been spotted near the city of Eponia. Once again, Royal Flush rush to their aid and manage to stop the prisoners from being executed by the Queen's supporters. Having freed most of the Queen's opponents, the Prince now feels emboldened enough to announce his survival to the entire country and to denounce his sister's reign.

Reality Show (31st October, 2007)[]

« The goal of the mission is to take the prince into the TV studio and give him time to broadcast his address, without interruption. »

With Raoul's careful planning, Royal Flush proceed to sweep through and secure the Kingdom's largest TV station for the Prince to record his message. They manage to repel an attempted counterattack by the Queen's forces, and the Prince succeeds in relaying his message to the nation. The Queen is forced to go into hiding, and attempts to negotiate with her brother for amnesty.

Meeting (1st November, 2007)[]

« Brother and sister – the royal rivals – are preparing for their tryst at an undisclosed location. »

Their contract fulfilled, Royal Flush are keen to board the first flight out of the country at the first opportunity. However, Raoul receives word that the Queen was intending to betray her brother at the negotiations. He attempts to convince the mercenaries to save the Prince but they refuse, unwilling to perform another contract with little-to-no chance of reward.

Escape (1st November, 2007)[]

« The goal of the mission is to get out of Sahrani. »

Raoul returns to the mercenaries later that evening, informing them of the Prince's death at the hands of his sister. He blames them squarely for his death, and also alerts them to the Queen having declared martial law throughout the Kingdom and Royal Flush being labelled as wanted fugitives. The mercenaries agree to flee from the Kingdom and also persuade Raoul to join them. They manage to find a usable transport and successfully escape, though the truth behind the Prince's death will never be known.

Trivia[]

  • Royal Flush was the first and only campaign in the entire series to feature gear loadout customisation through purchasing weapons from an arms dealer with cash.
    • This mechanic would finally return to the series for ArmA 3's Old Man mini-campaign; albeit only for a scenario rather than a full-length campaign.
  • An alternate ending exists for the campaign; should Lambowski's team accept Raoul's request to aid the Prince, then the final mission of the campaign will be Meeting instead.
    • Royal Flush rescue the Prince before he is assassinated, and Isabella is eventually killed by the mercenaries while attempting to flee from the country. In the aftermath and ending of this route, Orlando is shown being officially crowned as King as he thanks Lambowski's team for helping him.
    • This ending is non-canon in the main timeline, however. Canonically, Orlando is intended to die at the hands of his sister who remains as Queen of the Kingdom.
  • Despite being main characters, all members of Royal Flush (with the exception of Lambowski) can be killed in any of the missions throughout the campaign. In subsequent missions, they will be replaced by generic soldier units and Resistance insurgents.
    • This even applies to mid-game cutscenes and the ending(s), though the mercenaries will still be properly voiced by their respective characters even if their appearances are completely different.
