The SUSAT (full name: Sight Unit Small Arms, Trilux) is a telescopic sight used exclusively by the British Army in ArmA 2. It was added with the release of the British Armed Forces DLC.
Design[]
The SUSAT is a medium-ranged telescopic sight intended for use with weapons that fire the 5.56×45 mm NATO cartridge. It features an additional backup sight for use in close quarters.
It is exclusively mounted onto one weapon platform:
- L85A2 bullpup assault rifle (5.56 mm)
For the primary scope, its zeroing is fully adjustable starting from a minimum of 100 m up to a maximum of 600 m.[CfgWp 3][CfgWp 4] The backup sight on the other hand, utilises a fixed zeroing of 50 m which is not adjustable.[CfgWp 5][CfgWp 6] The primary scope has a fixed magnification of 4.01x.[CfgWp 1][CfgWp 2][Formula 1] It is possible to wear night vision goggles while looking through it.[CfgWp 7][CfgWp 8]
The SUSAT does not use a conventional mil-dot reticle nor provide a stadiametric rangefinder. Instead, it uses an upward facing, obelisk-shaped post with a pointed tip. By default, the tip is ranged for targets located at distances of up to 300 metres away.
Trivia[]
- The SUSAT on the UGL-equipped L85A2 was initially configured incorrectly and did not have access to a backup sight mode (unlike the non-grenade launcher variant of the rifle). This was later fixed following the release of Patch 1.01 for the BAF DLC.[1]
- Following the latest Steam version updates as part of the Community Configuration Project/CorePatch, tweaks were made to the SUSAT so that the user can now aim through the sight and activate their night vision goggles simultaneously.[2]
- However, its maximum zeroing range (for the primary scope) has been lowered from 800 m to only 600 m, while the backup ironsight has also been reduced to 50 m (down from 300 m).[2]
