The SVD is a 7.62 mm sniper rifle used by several REDFOR and INDFOR factions in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.

Overview[]

This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.

The SVD is a semi-automatic, gas-operated sniper/marksman rifle with a short-stroke gas-piston system. It is chambered to fire the 7.62×54 mmR round.

It loads exclusively from 10-round curved magazines, and can attain a fire rate of up to 600 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 715 m/s.

The SVD's side mount allows for all Dovetail-compatible optics to be mounted. The user can also attach a dedicated 7.62 mm sound suppressor or a bayonet onto the muzzle. However, it should be noted that it is not possible to have both attachments mounted at the same time.

Ironsights[]

The SVD's ironsights can be manually zeroed starting at a minimum of 100 metres up to a maximum of 400 metres (100, 200, 300, 400). By default, it uses a zeroing of 200 metres.

If an optical sight with a zeroing limit greater than 400 metres is fitted, the SVD will permit a maximum zeroing of 1,000 metres.

Ammunition[]

The SVD supports three types of magazines. All of them share the same weight of 12 "mass" units:

7.62 mm 10Rnd SVD AP 7N1 Black Mag[]

Arma3-ammunition-gmcwg10rndsvd

Standard 10-round magazine loaded 7N1 armour-piercing ammunition. The bullets have a tiny spill radius of 0.2 metres upon impact.

Does not contain any visible tracer rounds.

7.62 mm 10Rnd SVD API 7BZ3 Black Mag[]

Armour-piercing incendiary ammunition. These bullets also retain a tiny spill radius of 0.2 metres upon contact with any hard surface.

This magazine also does not contain any visible tracers.

7.62 mm 10Rnd SVD Ball-T 7T2 Black Mag[]

Magazine with a mixed ball/tracer load of 9/1 rounds.

Note that only the last round of the magazine will emit a visible green tracer.

Trivia[]

  • The SVD was not initially available upon Global Mobilization's release and was only added after Patch 1.1.[1]
  • Prior to Update 1.5, it was not possible to attach anything other than bayonets and the PSO-1 (for optics). This was changed with the patch's release, granting it access to all Dovetail optics as well as the option to mount a suppressor.[2]
