Sanjeev Raj was a minor character in ArmA 2's Operation Harvest Red campaign.
Background[]
A member of USMC Force Recon callsign Sabre Team, Sanjeev served as one of the team's Forward Air Controllers. He was subordinate to Sabre's team leader, Sergeant Ian Simmons.
Operation Harvest Red (2009)[]
When civil war between Chernarussian government forces and pro-Russian separatists from the so-called "Chernarussian Movement of the Red Star" (ChDKZ) breaks out in the Green Sea nation of Chernarus[1], Sabre Team is immediately mobilised by the 27th MEU's GCE quartermaster[2] to assist in liberating the province of South Zagoria.[3]
Prior to the main ground invasion, Sanjeev's team were inserted behind enemy lines near the village of Mogilevka. They were to sabotage key coastal defences and supply dumps being used by the insurgents.[4] After succeeding with their primary objective, Sanjeev's team moved south towards the coast. More defences were located at the village of Prigorodki near the base of the Pik Kozlova mountain.
However, one of Sanjeev's team members gets compromised and is pinned down before they could properly mark the targets. Fortunately, another Force Recon team, callsign Razor, were nearby to lend support. Sanjeev's team member marked the targets with red smoke grenades for Razor Team[5], who then laser designated them for offshore artillery bombardment.[6]
Following their success, Sanjeev's team moved towards the regional capital of Chernogorsk. Allied forces were already besieging the city and all Force Recon teams - Sabre included, were ordered to assist.[7] During the assault, friendly forces discover the whereabouts of the insurgent leader and his advisers, but Razor Team are closer to their location and take charge of the raid.[8]
However, Razor Team failed to report in despite having captured the leaders. Soon after, Sanjeev's team is notified that Razor had been ambushed and were restrained by the insurgents. Sabre quickly moved into position at the warehouse where they were being held to rescue them before it would be too late. Upon breaching the warehouse, Sanjeev assisted his team leader in freeing the captives from their restraints.[9] Unfortunately, they were already too late to save First Sergeant Patrick Miles, who had been executed by the insurgents before they fled.[10]
In the days that followed the failed capture, Sanjeev's team would be relocated further north to FOB Manhattan, continuing their manhunt for the elusive leader.[11] Their search is short-lived, as news soon arrives of a devastating terrorist attack in the heart of the Russian Federation's capital; apparently carried out by Chernarussian extremists.[1] In less than 48 hours, the MEU would be forced to withdraw from Chernarus to make way for the arrival of Russian "peacekeepers".[12]
Before returning to the ship, Captain Shaftoe assigned one more task for Sanjeev's team. They were to bring back one of the insurgents who apparently held information regarding the terrorist attack in Moscow, a man known only by the name of "Spukayev". On the other hand, Razor would split up to collect documents from the defector's safehouse.[13]
Death[]
Having brought back the defector to the FOB first, Sanjeev's team could do little but wait for Razor to return with the man's documents.[14]
However, alongside the rest of Sabre, Sanjeev perishes when a team of seemingly Russian operatives attack the FOB. When Sanjeev and the others refused to answer the Russian operative's questions, he proceeded to fatally stab each of them with a knife.[15] His corpse would later be discovered by the members of Razor Team upon their return.[16]
Personality and Appearance[]

An Asian-American, Sanjeev had short black hair and donned a Rhodesian Recon Vest (RRV) plate carrier, sage green-coloured Flame Resistant Organizational Gear (FROG) uniform, an olive green shemagh, and MARPAT-camouflaged pants. Similar to the other members of Sabre, Sanjeev usually wore a MARPAT-camouflaged booniehat, but favoured a tan-coloured MICH combat helmet for operations that took place in extreme close quarters.
Trivia[]
- Sanjeev and the other team members of Sabre are the only named USMC characters that wear alternate outfits, ranging from the basic recon uniform and a unique "assault" outfit during the warehouse assault.
