« | I hope the Reds have enjoyed their time on Malden because they don't have much longer here. We've pushed them right back to the far North of the island, and it's only a matter of time before we run them right into the sea. We're preparing for an offensive, but it's difficult to use tanks in this rocky area, and choppers have been pretty useless thanks to the dense areas of woodland around here. We need more soldiers on the ground. So, while the garrison in Goisse waits for reinforcements, I'm going with a few men to the hills to find the enemy encampment. We can't attack if we don't know where the enemy is. After our success here in Goisse, I'm just starting to feel that the tide is turning our way in this fight |

Overview[]
The player controls U.S. Army infantryman Lieutenant David Armstrong. Goisse has been successfully protected, but the Soviets that launched their attack are still located somewhere to the north of the village. Armstrong must locate their base camp to get rid of the Soviets in the west of Malden once and for all.

Walkthrough[]
Primary 1: Follow the M113s[]
You only have three other soldiers under your command for this mission, though they aren't actually needed to complete it.
As recommended, follow the friendly APCs north-east towards the marked waypoint on your map. You will soon come into contact with several hostile troops; eliminate them or let the APCs handle it. This objective will be completed once they are all killed off.
Primary 2: Find out the exact position of the enemy encampment[]
Once the enemy squad has been eliminated, move slightly to the east along the ridge line. Order your men to HOLD FIRE and continue climbing further uphill. Remember to avoid contact with the enemy from here on out; that means don't shoot anyone.
The Soviet camp is located at coordinates De25. You'll know you've found the right location if you can see a BMP. Once you are within visual range of the camp (use your Binoculars), identify their positions and wait for Armstrong to radio back his finding.
Primary 3: Get back to Goisse in one piece[]
From here on out it is no longer necessary to maintain a low-profile. If you are forced to, return fire on any enemies that get in your way (there will be a few stragglers around the outskirts of the camp).
Fall back and return to Goisse. The mission will be complete as soon as you're within reach of the village.
Tips[]
- This is the first mission where you get to customise Armstrong's default loadout and that of his subordinates. However, keep in mind that combat isn't a priority for this mission, so don't be too concerned over your loadout.
Trivia[]
- The official Armaverse Timeline states that Scouting takes place on June 13th despite the fact that its in-game date refers to its events occurring on the 14th.[1]
