"Shape Breaker" refers to a series of ballistic-resistant combat helmets worn by several BLUFOR and REDFOR factions in ArmA 3. They were added with the release of the Reaction Forces Creator DLC.
Overview[]
« | Tactical coverings for combat helmets - designed to break up a soldier's distinctive silhouette and prevent light reflection for improved concealment and camouflage. Field Manual

» |
As per its namesake, the Shape Breaker is designed to break up the shape of the wearer's helmet in order to make it more difficult for the enemy to make out their silhouette. Since they are purely cosmetic additions, Shape Breakers do not increase the weight of the parent helmet that they are fitted onto and do not impose any extra stamina penalties upon the wearer.

Trivia[]
- The Shape Breaker is based on "Mitznefet" helmet covers worn by personnel of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
- Shape Breakers do not affect the wearer's camouflage rating against AI-controlled units. At best, they might have some effectiveness against human players at a distance.
- The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
Deprecated icons for Modular Helmets with Shape Breakers.
Unused Shape Breaker models (left-to-right):
- Light Combat Helmet
- Enhanced Combat Helmet
- Assassin Helmet- headgear_b_helmet_ballistic_mitznefet_rf.p3d:[3] Featuring an Enhanced Combat Helmet with a Shape Breaker. The helmet's accessories (IR strobe, headset, etc.) are still attached onto the helmet's model but are mostly obscured by the Shape Breaker.
- headgear_b_helmet_light_mitznefet_rf.p3d:[4] A Light Combat Helmet with a Shape Breaker. Just like Shape Breaker ECHs, the LCH version also has its accessories attached onto the helmet.
- headgear_o_helmet_ballistic_spec_mitznefet_rf.p3d:[5] An Assassin Helmet with a Shape Breaker. As with its parent model, the Assassin Helmet variant has the Heads Up Display (HUD) eyepiece lowered.
- No leftover text strings or config entries remain, though icons for some camouflage schemes are still present within the DLC's files for unknown reasons.[6][7][8][9][10] Therefore, these helmet models - although still fully functional, require the use of a custom addon in order to restore them into the game.
