Sister Systems is a firearms manufacturer.
Background[]
Sister Systems manufactures the XM8 family of modular rifles that are chambered to fire the 5.56×45 mm NATO cartridge.[1] In addition to its baseline rifle and carbine models, the XM8 features two unique sub-variants: a sharpshooter model fitted with a telescopic sight intended for marksmen, and a light support weapon that loads from 100-round drum magazines.[2]
The company initially participated in U.S. military trials that were aimed at replacing the older M16/M4 series of assault rifles and carbines.[2][3] Though it hasn't been officially adopted by any nation's armed forces, the XM8 is popular amongst private military companies and various mercenary organisations.[4]
It is a first-tier subsidiary of the Canadian conglomerate Vrana Corp, though Sister Systems also has its own subsidiary in the form of Complete Intel Services (second-tier, also owned by Vrana).[5]
History[]
2005[]
The company submitted a bid to the U.S. Army's trials to replace the M16/M4 with the XM8 in early 2005. It was rejected in the end due to the competition's cancellation.[2][3]

The company published a press release emphasising the success of their XM8 modular rifle, claiming that the platform was by far their most innovative product line yet.[6]
2039[]
By mid 2039, senior leadership officials at Vrana, including the CEO, have left the conglomerate for unknown reasons. The sudden departure of so many executives has caused Vrana's share prices to freefall and has left Sister Systems - alongside other Vrana subsidiaries, in a cloud of uncertainty regarding its future.[7]

Trivia[]
- Sister Systems made its first appearance in the Armaverse following the release of ArmA 2's Private Military Company DLC.
- Technically however, its earliest appearance would actually be in ArmA 2 itself as basic models of the XM8 were initially introduced in the base game first (excluding variants with enhanced vision optics and telescopic sights as these were added in ArmA 2: PMC).
- The company's press release appears to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to real-world criticisms of Heckler & Koch GmbH's XM8 which ultimately led to its rejection by the U.S. military.[8]
