The Skate Helmet is a ballistic-resistant helmet worn by civilians, pro-AAF paramilitary fighters and Tanoan Gendarmerie tactical teams in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Apex DLC.
Overview[]
The Skate Helmet designed for users who participate in recreational sports. It has a weight of 20 "mass" units.
Despite being intended to serve as a simple safety helmet, the Skate Helmet is actually rated at Level I protection standards and can withstand a single 9 mm bullet (at non-point blank ranges). Ironically, this is the same degree of protection offered by mil-spec Light Combat Helmets.
However, it should be noted that the Skate Helmet lacks camouflage options and provides minimal resistance to explosions, which results in the Skate Helmet not being a viable replacement for dedicated combat helmets.
Hitpoints[]

Trivia[]
- In-game Skate Helmets appear to be based on Pro-Tec's line of skateboarding helmets.
- Although marked as content from the Apex expansion pack, the Skate Helmet does not require ownership of the DLC and can be freely worn without restrictions.[1]
- Prior to the Old Man mini-campaign/scenario, Skate Helmets were exclusively worn by civilians.
- Tac-Ops' Beyond Hope mini-campaign and Old Man would subsequently depict it in use with pro-Akhanteros paramilitary fighters[2] and the Tanoan Gendarmerie's tactical response units[3].
- At launch, the Skate Helmet's model did not have its normal mapping and glossiness textures applied. This would cause the helmet's colours to look "flat" and have almost no reflectivity whenever a light source (the sun or any artificial lighting) was shone in its direction.
- This visual glitch was eventually fixed after Game Update 1.96's release, which corrected the Skate Helmet's textures so that it no longer appears "flat" under any light source.[4]
