The Small Boat is a motorboat used by Chernarussian civilians in ArmA 2.
Overview[]
- Roles:
- Recreational boating
- Civilian transportation
« | Many Chernarussians own small private boats, which are mostly used for fishing and recreation. Treacherous currents and hidden rocks make these vessels perfect for navigation along the Chernarussian coastline. Armoury Description

Design[]
The Small Boat is a recreational boat with a single engine.
Features
Readily accessible and relatively cheap to procure, Small Boats are a common sight all along the Chernarussian coastline. They are available in two versions, one with and another without a roof atop the stern where the riders are seated.
Drawbacks
Small Boats are by far the slowest surface vessels in ArmA 2. Even when compared to the Fishing Boat, they are slower by 6 km/h (capping out at 14 km/h) and take just as long to reach these speeds.
Needless to say, Small Boats are quite useless for transportation purposes and should be disregarded in favour of inflatable boats used by militaries or the larger Fishing Boat.
Crew Capacity
Small Boats support both the driver and five additional passengers.
Protection[]
Small Boats have base armour values of 10.
Hull[]
Their hulls can only survive 10 points of damage before their integrity fails.
Engine[]
The engines can resist just 12 points of damage before failing.
Trivia[]
- Small Boats are the first non-military surface vessels in the series (alongside the Fishing Boat).
- Prior to Patch 1.03 for ArmA 2 (pre-Operation Arrowhead), grenades that exploded after they landed onto any part of the boat would emit the wrong kind of particle effects.[1]
- When ArmA 2 was first launched, the Small Boat (like all other ships) would consume excessive amounts of bandwidth and server CPU power in an online multiplayer environment (this did not apply to Small Boats in offline singleplayer). This was eventually corrected by the release of Patch 1.04.[2]
- The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
- Traces of the Small Boat exist in ArmA 3's files (specifically model proxies for crew positions).[3][4][5]
- However, it appears that it was only used as a placeholder at some point in development to test ArmA 3's boat physics. This is evident by the fact that in the "Naval Combat" demo of the E3 2011 gameplay walkthrough, Bohemia Interactive developer Ivan Buchta crashes a Speedboat into a manned Small Boat (with its model appearing to be a direct port of the ArmA 2 Small Boat).[6]
