The Spiderhole is a garrisonable structure used by several REDFOR factions in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
A dirt foxhole used for both observation and setting up defensive or ambush positions, Spiderholes are littered throughout Cam Lao Nam and can almost always be found near the entrances of the Viet Cong's tunnel networks.
Spiderholes come in three forms, the most basic of which simply consists of a hole with a foliage cover propped on branches/sticks.
Other forms include a horizontal "trench" large enough to support two fighters (but lacking a cover), along with a third type which is another single-man hole but with the foliage cover shaped at an angle.
By default, all Spiderholes lack armament of their own (regardless of variant). Personnel can utilise FFV to attack hostiles with their own small arms. However, it is not possible to equip shoulder-fired launchers even on the larger twin Spiderholes with no covers over them.
Trivia[]
- Spiderholes in S.O.G. are the first garrisonable structures of their kind to be featured in the series (albeit only in a semi-official capacity).
- Upon release, Spiderholes were completely indestructible and could only be "disabled" through the use of scripting commands (i.e. setDamage). This was eventually addressed after Update 1.1, which rendered them vulnerable to damage from blasts and explosive munitions.
