State Scarlet is the first addon campaign for ArmA 3, and is the second to be introduced into the series after ArmA 2'sEagle Wing.
It is also the second singleplayer campaign in ArmA 3 (after Remnants of War) where there is more than one playable character.
Although non-canonical within the main Armaverse timeline, its events would be taking place one year after the ending of Resistance and almost two years prior to the start of Cold War Crisis.
