The Stealth Combat Helmet is a ballistic-resistant helmet used by CTRG operatives in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Apex DLC.
Overview[]
Originally designed for use by the U.S. Army, the Stealth Combat Helmet is exclusively worn by NATO's elite CTRG operatives.
It is essentially a modified Combat Helmet that has been fitted with a mandible guard. This mandible shields most of the wearer's face and provides further protection from blast damage and small arms fire. It has a weight of 50 "mass" units[CfgWp 1] and has thermal masking properties.[rvmat 1]
The Stealth Combat Helmet is rated at Level II protection standards - the very same as the basic Combat Helmet, though its main advantage over the latter stems from its mandible guard. It can protect the wearer's face from one 9 mm bullet at distances beyond 300 metres. The rest of the helmet is perfectly capable of allowing the wearer to survive being struck by a single 6.5 mm rifle round.
However, the Stealth Combat Helmet continues to face the same issues as regular Combat Helmets; namely that the bulk of the helmet will not stop most bullets (6.5 mm or less) from instantly incapacitating/killing the user at point blank ranges. The mandible guard is similarly useless in close quarters as it can't prevent the wearer from being fatally injured by 5.56 mm/5.8 mm bullets at any distance below 300 metres.
Hitpoints[]
Body part | Base armour value | Damage reduction modifier (vs. ballistic) | Damage reduction modifier (vs. explosions) |
---|---|---|---|

Head | 6[CfgWp 4] | 50%[CfgWp 5] | 50%[CfgWp 5] |
Camouflage[]
- Tropic: Tropic Dazzle scheme. Exclusive to operatives deployed to lush environments.
- Arid: Arid Dazzle scheme. Only used by operatives on arid/semi-arid terrains.
Trivia[]
- Like regular Combat Helmets, the Stealth Combat Helmet appears to be heavily based on Revision Military's "Batlskin Cobra".[1] The mandible guard is an actual (albeit optional) accessory which can be fitted onto real Batlskin Cobras, though they are not designed with ballistic protection in mind.[2]
- Initially, the Stealth Combat Helmet was only available in the Tropic camouflage scheme. The Arid version was later added as part of Game Update 2.00 to celebrate ArmA 3's seventh year of release.[3]
