Armed Assault Wiki

The Steel Helmet M86 is a ballistic-resistant helmet used by East German military forces in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.

Overview[]

Adopted as part of the NVA's ongoing modernisation efforts, the M86 is the Army's latest standard-issue combat helmet. It is essentially a shorter variant of the older M56 helmet.[1]

Just like the M56, M86s are painted in a flat colour by default. However, they can also be customised with camouflaged covers and meshes. All configurations of the M86 helmet have a weight of 10 "mass" units.[CfgWp 1][CfgWp 2]

Camouflage[]

With the exception of baseline Green variant, all other camouflage options use fabric covers:

  • Blue: Blue colour scheme intended solely for use on peacekeeping deployments.
  • Green: Dark green colour scheme. Also features an optional mesh cover.
  • Strichtarn: Standard splinter camouflage pattern.
  • Winter: Winter camouflage scheme.

Trivia[]

  • The Steel Helmet M86 was not originally included at the DLC's launch. It would only be added into the DLC's asset pool after the release of Update 1.6, which specifically included fictional 1990s East German forces.[1]
