« | Tasmanian Devil to Blackwood, helloooo? Can you hear me? Who's in charge over there? Tasmanian Devil

Tasmanian Devil was a supporting character in ArmA: Cold War Assault's Resistance campaign.
Background[]
A unknown radio operator that went by the callsign of Tasmanian Devil (as per his namesake).
He was an informant that provided valuable information to the partisan fighters on Nogova during its armed occupation by Soviet military forces led by Colonel Aleksei Guba.
Resistance (1982)[]
While the occupation force spread news of the new regime towards the citizens of Nogova over the radio, Tasmanian Devil made his first sudden "appearance" and interrupted the broadcast.
He spread the message that the resistance was growing stronger, and urged Nogovans to join the group before being cut off. He then provided details on the routes that the Soviet convoys took to Gabriel, then-leader of the partisans.
Believing him to be a well-informed amateur radio operator, the partisan leader quickly placed his trust in Tasmanian Devil despite being unaware of his true identity.
« | Troska: What!? I'm in charge here. Identify yourself! Tasmanian Devil: Maybe you should identify yourself. I know who I am, and I know who you are. But you obviously don't know who I am. Are you sure you know who you are???? Tasmanian Devil's first introduction to Victor Troska

When Victor Troska takes over as leader of the group following Gabriel's death, Tasmanian Devil announces himself to the new commander directly via his radio frequency, and informs him of incoming Soviet tanks. Troska remains unconvinced of Tasmanian Devil's allegiance, but is reassured by Geronimo as he had provided genuine information to the guerillas in the past.
Hours later, the partisans launched an ambush on another Soviet convoy in order to obtain supplies. After they successfully intercepted it, Tasmanian Devil chimed in again to warn the guerillas of incoming reinforcements heading their way.
The next day, the partisans launched another offensive, this time against a heavy armour depot near the town of Trosky. Tasmanian Devil again alerted the fighters of more reinforcements. Thanks to his timely information, the guerillas are able to repel the Soviet backup units, and succeed in getting away with their salvaged vehicles, weapons, and ammunition.
One month later, the guerillas continued their string of victories over the Soviets. With attacks breaking out all across the island, the Soviets finally came to the realisation that stamping out the resistance movement was impossible now.
« | Listen, Guba wants to speak to you. And Mr Troska... if you agree to see him, he says he'll release a number of captured rebels. Also, there's one word Guba wanted you to hear: Dolina. Tasmanian Devil provides news of Guba's "deal"
|
» |
Tasmanian Devil returned to the guerillas with good and bad news: Guba wanted to personally "negotiate" with Troska over a possible ceasefire. At the same time, he mentioned that Guba wanted to pass on one specific name; Dolina, which was the name of the village that a close acquaintance of Troska's lived in.
Death[]
As the partisans had managed to destroy the main bridges in central Nogova, the Soviets were forced to route their convoys through the dangerous, guerilla-held mountains in the northern section of the island. During one of the attacks, Tasmanian Devil urgently chimes in again, this time with critical information that he had just obtained regarding Guba's location. He relays what he knew of the remaining Soviet bases on the island, and also begins to talk of plans by the commander.
« | Guba is... damn, that noise again! There's someone trying to find me. Who can... I'd better finish the job here. But the news is Guba is in the main town. They've built a big base there. Their other base is in Petrovice, and they've got one more at the airport in the desert. Tomorrow, they've... Hang on a moment. Tasmanian Devil's final transmission to Troska

» |
Before he could reveal anything further to Troska, his location is apparently raided by Soviet troops who immediately order him to "surrender". Tasmanian Devil is quickly gunned down by the Soviets, and the transmission goes silent.
Trivia[]
- Tasmanian Devil's true identity ultimately remains a mystery, with even James Gastovski not being sure of who he really was (he thought he was one of Troska's subordinates).
- Troska initially presumes that he's a Soviet intelligence officer that was sympathetic to the rebels given how well-informed he was on troop movements. Or alternatively, he was just a civilian that happened to live near the Soviet encampments.
- But regardless of his background, his body is never discovered by the partisans even after Lipany and Petrovice are liberated towards the end of the campaign.
