Trosky is a remote settlement located in the Independent Republic of Nogova.

Overview[]

Trosky is a small village located on the north-eastern side of the island. It resides at the base of the northern mountains. Save for the presence of its chapel, it is better known for the castle ruins at the peak of the hill to its south.[1]

At the height of the Soviet occupation of Nogova, the village was briefly occupied by Soviet military forces.[2] It was abandoned on August 23rd, 1982, when anti-Soviet partisans attacked and looted the base.[3]

History[]

On August 23rd, 1982[3], a small task force of guerilla fighters led by Victor Troska raided the village in an attempt to secure the depot's vehicles. At the time, the Soviet occupation force had recently repaired a batch of tanks and their crews were resting at the castle, leaving them vulnerable to a surprise attack.[2]

Before they commenced the raid, Troska infiltrated the village via the castle[4], silencing the vehicle crews and killing the perimeter patrols. With the village successfully cleared of threats, Troska ordered his men to move in and to begin seizing the tanks.[5]

However, Soviet command had been alerted to the raid and immediately dispatched reinforcements to retake the depot. A force comprising at least one platoons' worth of tanks had been sent but were annihilated one by one by the guerillas.[6] With the Soviets driven off and the repaired tanks now under their control, the guerillas quickly retreated from the village, taking the Soviets' prized vehicles as loot along with them.[7]

During the occupation of Nogova, the village was repurposed into a mechanised repair depot for tanks and other kinds of armoured fighting vehicles.[2] The depot was raided by anti-Soviet partisans and was abandoned after the Soviets failed to retake the village.[7]

But the Soviets are still far superior with all their armored vehicles. Today at dawn we're heading to a nearby Soviet base, situated below the ruins of an old castle. According to the information we have received, the Soviets have quite a few recently repaired tanks there – and all of their guards are in the castle, getting drunk celebrating some holiday or other... In addition to the guards, of course, there are a lot of other hostiles on site. That's why the tanks are guarded so inadequately: who'd dare move against such an army? But... still waters run deep."

The guards are off celebrating in a nearby castle. Our units in the mountains are ready to attack. - Meet with the second team at the base. - Decide for yourself which way you want to go (use the action menu). - Plan A: Infiltrate the Soviet base by yourself, and neutralize the remaining guards. Meanwhile, the others will join up with reinforcements, and you'll call them in later. - Plan B: Together with the others, attack the base and get all of the tanks. - Call for reinforcements by radio (Alpha 0-0-1). They'll move in to crew up the tanks. - There are castle ruins above the base, with many partying Soviet troops. If you make a scene, they will surely come after you. Take them out! If possible, try to repair and rearm the tanks. - If the Soviets attack, kill 'em all. - Disappear into the mountains."

The Russians, showing a characteristic lack of imagination, are once more sending tanks against you. But... you know, this time they're coming on strong, so make sure you're ready for them. They're on their way from the south. End of transmission. YEEE HA!"
