Armed Assault Wiki

The Tura is a BLUFOR, REDFOR and INDFOR faction in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Western Sahara Creator DLC.

Overview[]

One of the many tribes of the Sefrawi Desert, the Tura were historically nomads and caravan raiders. Due to the effects of climate change resulting in water shortages and poor economic conditions throughout the region, the Tura have begun to adopt modern lifestyles, and assimilating themselves into Argana's urban centres.[1]

However, following their successful armed uprising, the Tura have managed to wrest control of the Sefrou-Ramal region from the Arganan government. With the assistance of other non-state actor groups[2], they have solidified their grip over much of the region.[3]

They are led by Arib Said, the chief and leader of the Tura tribes. Little is known about his past, save for rumours that he may have ties to the notorious (former) leader of the Tanoan criminal organisation, the Syndikat, and that he was directly involved in the failed Red Tiger coup d'etat many years ago. Under his leadership, the Tura have been steadily gaining influence, having since become a major player in regional affairs.[4]

Equipment[]

The Tura rely on smuggled and stolen equipment salvaged from the Arganan military and their paramilitary allies. Local tribesmen, criminals, and even military defectors can be observed wearing djellabas adorned in a variety of colours and patterns. Others meanwhile, prefer to blend in their traditional clothing with camouflaged combat pants and/or plain shirts.

Being a non-standardised force, most fighters just wear turbans that may or may not have scarves covering their face. Many also lack body armour, preferring load bearing harnesses and chest rigs instead. Only former military personnel keep their olive-coloured steel helmets and wear ballistic-resistant vests most of the time.

When it comes to vehicular options, the Tura traditionally fall back to up-armoured Offroads and other civilian vehicles for both transportation and light fire support. The capture of Arganan military bases has also meant that the Tura can be observed utilising captured BTR-K IFVs against government forces, though they are not used in great numbers due to their relative scarcity.

Trivia[]

  • Specifically for the DLC's Extraction scenario, Tura insurgents may be randomly equipped with weapons from official DLCs (e.g. the Apex expansion's AKM assault rifle, AKS-74U carbines, and Mk14 Classics from the Contact expansion).
    • They do not have access to these weapons outside of the scenario, however. The appearance of these firearms is also dependent on the player's ownership of said expansion packs/DLCs[5] or whether the host chooses to enable them (in multiplayer)[6].
