The Type 3 Vest is a ballistic-resistant vest worn by West German tactical police teams in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.
Overview[]
An older predecessor to the Type 18, the Type 3 body armour vest is worn by the German Federal Police's Grenzschutzgruppe 9 (GSG 9) unit. It has a weight of 80 "mass" units.[CfgWp 1] The Type 3 allows for only 40 "mass" units worth of ammunition/items to be stored.[CfgWp 2]
The Type 3 is rated at Level II protection standards. It covers the wearer's abdomen, chest, and diaphragm. At point blank distances, the wearer can consistently survive the damage from being hit by a single 5.45 mm or 5.56 mm bullet. Against 9 mm pistol bullets, the wearer can withstand up to four direct hits at point blank range.
Variants[]
Type 3A1[]
The Type 3A1 variant has four dedicated magazine pouches attached, which doubles the vest's storage capacity from 40 to 80 "mass" units.[CfgWp 4] However, this comes at the cost of ~ 17% increased weight as the Type 3A1 has an unloaded weight of 95 "mass" instead.[CfgWp 3]
Aside from storage capacity and weight differences, the Type 3A1's protective attributes remain unchanged from the baseline vest.

Trivia[]
- Global Mobilization's Type 3 Vest is directly based on the real-world "Type 3" vest designed by British company Bristol Composite Materials.[1]
- Both variants of the Type 3 Vest were not originally available at launch. They were only added after the release of Update 1.5 (alongside the inclusion of the GSG 9 sub-faction).[2]
