Armed Assault Wiki

This article lists the specifications for underbarrel grenade launcher rounds featured on certain weapon platforms in ArmA: Armed Assault.

Overview[]

Arma1-equipment-ugl-01

M16A4s fitted with the M203 UGL.

In Armed Assault, UGLs continue to serve as rifle-mounted accessories on every assault rifle platform with the exception of the G36 family.

Functionality-wise, they mostly remain unchanged and can be fed with either anti-personnel/light vehicle high-explosive (HE) rounds or illumination/signalling flare shells. Both are accurate out to an approximate distance of 350-400 metres.

However unlike in Cold War Assault, UGLs are now restricted to loading grenade rounds designed for either the American M203 or Russian GP-25. The M203's HE/flare shells for example, cannot be shared with a GP-25 (and vice versa). Lastly, rifle grenades are no longer available and cannot be loaded onto the muzzle of any assault rifle or carbine.

List of weapons with UGLs attached[]

Four weapon platforms feature one sub-variant fitted with a UGL:

Grenade types (GP-25)[]

The AK-74's GP-25 can load five types of grenade "magazines". All grenade rounds take up one secondary weapon inventory slot regardless of their payload:[CfgMa 1][CfgMa 2]

Parameter GP-25 HE GP-25 Flare
Base damage value 12[CfgAm 1] 5[CfgAm 2][note 1]
Splash damage value 10[CfgAm 3] 2[CfgAm 4][note 1]
Warhead type High-Explosive Flare
Blast radius (metres) 5[CfgAm 5] 0.2[CfgAm 6]
Muzzle velocity (m/s) 80[CfgMa 3] 80[CfgMa 4]
Duration (seconds) Detonates on impact 20[CfgAm 7]
Deflection angle (degrees) [CfgAm 8] 30°[CfgAm 9]
  • High-Explosive (HE): Effective against clustered infantry and unarmoured ground vehicles. Has a blast radius of 5 metres.[CfgAm 5]
  • Flare: Illumination/signalling round. Burns for up to 20 seconds until the flare expires.[CfgAm 7]

Flares are available in white, green, red and yellow colour varieties. There are no performance differences between the colours.

Trivia[]

  • Armed Assault is the first title in the series to feature dedicated, non-interchangeable "magazine" pools for UGLs.
  • Prior to Patch 1.08, the GP-25's HE grenades were significantly more powerful as they were incorrectly configured to fire the AGS-30's 30 mm high-velocity grenade rounds (Classname: G_30mm_HE). This was changed after the patch's release so that they properly fire the same 40 mm grenade as the M203 (Classname: G_40mm_HE).[1]

Notes[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 Although a hit value is defined, flare shells technically do not have the ability to harm targets even if the flare strikes the target's head.
