The VRCO is a prism scope used by both FIA guerillas and CSAT Quick Reaction Force (QRF) teams in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Reaction Forces Creator DLC.

Design[]

A multi-purpose prism scope, the VRCO can be utilised on a variety of weapon platforms. The VRCO isn't tailored towards a specific calibre, though it works best when it is mounted onto 5.56 mm-chambered assault rifles and marksman rifles:

The VRCO shares similar functionality to the MRCO. It features the ability to switch between two magnification "modes" that provide either a wide field-of-view or a narrow but zoomed in field-of-view with a magnification of 2x.[CfgWp 1][CfgWp 2][Formula 1] The scope uses a fixed zeroing of 300 m regardless of the currently toggled magnification "mode".[CfgWp 3][CfgWp 4]

The scope's lens is not thermally opaque; that is, 'hot' targets can be seen clearly through it even when thermal vision is activated. It should be noted that the VRCO is not interchangeable with its sidearm counterpart, the VRCO-S. Pistols and other secondary weapons cannot mount the primary-only VRCO (and vice versa for the VRCO-S).

Attaching the VRCO onto a weapon will increase its inertia penalty by +0.1.[CfgWp 6]

AI[]

NOTE: The information in this section only applies to the AI.

The VRCO is classified[1] as a type 1 optical sight.[CfgWp 7] If the weapon is configured with AI-only firemodes[2], AI units that have the VRCO mounted onto their weapon will have access to medium range firemodes but not far (type 2) range firemodes.[3]

Camouflage[]

  • Black: All-black colour finish.
  • Khaki: Forest green colour finish with black flip caps and dials.
  • Sand: Desert tan colour finish with black flip caps and dials.

Trivia[]

  • The VRCO appears to be based on the "Spitfire" series of prism scopes designed by Vortex Optics, an optics manufacturer headquartered in the state of Wisconsin, U.S.A.[4]
  • Minor adjustments were applied to the VRCO after the release of Update 1.0.1 (the update seemingly lowers the resolution of its textures from 4096x4096 down to 2048x2048).[5]
