Vehicles is a playable showcase mission in ArmA 3.
Overview[]
The player controls Griffin Regiment soldier Sergeant Khalili, callsign Viper-Black. NATO forces are deeply entrenched on Stratis, making any attempt to assault the island fruitless in its present state.
Rather than risk a frontal assault, Khalili - alongside another recon team, callsign Viper-Green, have been tasked with disrupting NATO's communications and logistics. Should they succeed, they will inflict severe damage upon NATO's supply lines and render the rest of the island vulnerable to attack.

Walkthrough[]
Primary 1: Steal the car[]
Move towards grid 050-059 (northern side of Camp Rogain) and climb up the hill until you reach the H-barriers. There are no enemies patrolling on this side, so don't worry about being spotted. Just continue along the northern side until you can see a small gap in-between the H-barriers wide enough for you to pass through. This will place you within a stone's throw of the target MRAP.
The camp itself is defended by a total of four NATO soldiers (all riflemen). Three of these soldiers will periodically patrol in the direction of the MRAP, while one always stays on overwatch on the roof of the command centre.
If you have third person enabled, swivel the camera around using freelook and watch them carefully until they move away. Once one of the soldiers turns away, sprint towards the vehicle and hop into the driver's seat. If you don't have third person enabled, things will be a bit trickier as you'll have to peek around the corner instead. Don't worry if you get spotted though; just kill the first soldier that you encounter and sprint straight for the MRAP before they get a chance to pin you down.
Note that you don't have to kill any of the soldiers in the camp, nor do you have to worry about them damaging the vehicle or injuring you since none of their weapons can penetrate the MRAP's armour. If you insist on killing them, one 40 mm grenade per soldier is sufficient as none of them are wearing explosive resistant vests.
Primary 2: Destroy vehicles[]
NOTE:
- Although this is considered to be a primary objective, you can still "finish" the showcase even after failing this objective provided that you create a distraction for Viper-Green.
- The mission will skip directly to the final primary objective but you can continue on with the optional objective before you actually leave.
Swap to the driver's seat if you haven't already and get out of Rogain. Stick to the roads and make your way towards the military range south-east of Agia Marina (ignore the two soldiers below the camp manning the guard tower). Watch out for oncoming civilian cars. When you encounter the NATO roadblock at grid 041-057, just drive through the gap between the two parked vehicles and turn the soldiers standing in the way into roadkill.
Once you're approximately ~ 400 metres out from the objective, you will start encountering isolated two-man sentry teams with grenadiers. Watch out for these hostiles as their UGLs can potentially damage the MRAP either by bursting its tyres or disabling the RCWS turret. Either run them over or feed them a 40 mm grenade.

Stop at grid 035-057 (or any other suitable location depending on your personal preference) and switch back to the gunner seat. Zoom in the turret's camera while facing towards the military range.
Lase the range of the targets and have the turret's Fire Control System (FCS) compute the exact zeroing. Ignore the infantry and fire a barrage of grenades at the vehicles until their tyres are popped, their engines are wrecked, and their turrets are disabled.
This objective will be completed once all three of the enemy's MRAPs are immobilised and have their weapons systems disabled (in the case of the armed ones).
Primary 3: Exfiltrate[]
You can opt to help create a diversion for Viper-Green (see Optional objective below) or complete the showcase immediately (resulting in a partial victory) by rendezvousing with the extraction boat at grid 030-063.
Get out of the MRAP once you get within range of the vessel, then the showcase will come to an end. However, be careful not to run over the boat driver as it's easy to not brake in time and accidentally run him over (he's crouching behind the tree).
Optional 4: Sabotage radio tower[]
You need to create a diversion for Viper-Green before they can extract safely from Air Station Mike-26. Leave the military range and drive towards the radio tower at grid 030-061 north of Agia Marina. There are several more enemies around the base of the tower (some of whom are grenadiers) who you can choose to kill or ignore.

Once you arrive there, get as close as possible to the tower and exit the MRAP. Plant your demolition charge at the base and quickly hop back in, then drive away with haste. Trigger the explosive as soon as you're safely out of harm's way.
Do note that you only have seven minutes to complete this objective before Viper-Green are killed. The objective will be automatically cancelled if you do not demolish the radio tower in time.
Tips[]
- Destroying the enemy MRAPs is not required. They only have to be disabled.
- You can still accomplish the second half of the mission even after the target MRAP is disabled and HQ tells you to evacuate.
- Blowing up the radio tower with the MRAP's 40 mm grenades is theoretically possible but is unfeasible since you need to expend the majority of your grenades (both grenade belt magazines combined).
- Your demolition charge on the other hand, is capable of razing it in one go. As such, don't waste time with the MRAP's grenade launcher.
- If you are afraid of being shot to death by the nearby soldiers, clear them out first with the GMG. Remember: your MRAP is impervious to small arms and can still withstand a few direct hits from infantry UGLs before anything bad happens.
Trivia[]
- Vehicles was one of the first four showcases that were added for the release of ArmA 3's Alpha.
- The enemy gunship harassing Viper-Green will eventually fly in the direction of Agia Marina once the diversion is created.
- Variable names and commented out parts of the mission's script suggest that Khalili was originally intended to extract via an SDV as opposed to a boat.
- The ending will differ depending on whether Khalili succeeds with the two main objectives of the showcase:
- If he neutralises the enemy MRAPs and creates a distraction for Viper-Green (best outcome)
- He fails to take out the MRAPs but succeeds in causing a distraction for Viper-Green (decent outcome)
- Khalili does not destroy the MRAPs and Viper-Green are killed by the enemy gunship (worst outcome)
- Unlike most showcases from the Alpha and the Beta, Vehicles was made significantly easier to complete with subsequent platform updates and engine changes to ArmA 3.
- In particular, the Tanks DLC overhauled armoured vehicles (such as Khalili's stolen MRAP) to become more durable and resistant to explosive damage sources.
- The DLC's addition of a dedicated damage component system also meant that it was no longer possible for the MRAP to outright explode after taking too much damage from UGL rounds.
- The only negative consequence of these patches is that it is no longer feasible to blow up the enemy MRAPs with the GMG's 40 mm grenades due to the reduced damage they inflict upon MRAP-type vehicles. However, given that the objective doesn't require their outright destruction, Vehicles is still much easier to play when compared to its release version.
