The Vest - Aircrew is a flak jacket/ballistic-resistant vest used by both MACV-SOG and ARVN forces, as well as in limited numbers with CIA aircrews in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
Dismissively referred to as the "Chicken Plate"[1], the Aircrew vest is primarily worn by MACV and South Vietnamese helicopter aircrews.
The Aircrew vest features a large envelope to accommodate a front torso protector for aircrews, a pocket for maps, and stretchable webbing. It has a weight of 20 "mass" units[CfgWp 1] and will allow the wearer to store up to 40 "mass" units worth of ammunition/items.[CfgWp 2]
The vest covers the chest, diaphragm, as well as parts of the abdomen, pelvis, arms, and neck. It is mainly intended to protect the wearer from indirect explosions. However, it retains ballistic-resistant properties and will allow the wearer to survive a single point blank hit from a 7.62 mm assault rifle bullet or up to four pistol bullets.

- No part of the model actually covers the wearer's arms and neck. In spite of that, the Aircrew vest is strangely configured to provide a 50% damage reduction modifier[2] and a base armour value of 6 for both limbs.[3]
