The Vest - SEAL is a vest worn by MACV-SOG forces in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
Worn by U.S. Navy SEALs and UDT divers, these vests are available in six variants:
- The baseline Rifleman loadout with several rifle magazine pouches at the front
- A dedicated MG loadout, featuring two linked ammunition belts wrapped around the wearer's torso
- The Medic loadout with a life preserver and satchel bags to store medical supplies
- A Grenadier loadout with pouches for storing grenade rounds and a life preserver
- The TL loadout, intended for use by SEAL fireteam leaders
- A unique Scout loadout that features khaki rifle magazine pouches
Variant | Weight ("mass") | Storage capacity ("mass") |
---|---|---|
Vest - SEAL (Rifleman) | 60 | 200 |
Vest - SEAL (MG) | 65 | 220 |
Vest - SEAL (Medic) | 60 | 200 |
Vest - SEAL (Grenadier) | 60 | 200 |
Vest - SEAL (TL) | 62.5 | 210 |
Vest - SEAL (Scout) | 60 | 200 |
It should be noted that none of the vests are bundled with rebreathers. SEAL vests also do not have any protective attributes and will stop damage from ballistic projectiles or indirect explosions.
Variants[]
Diver[]
This loadout specifically comprises of two oxygen tanks, a double hose, flotation vest, and a weighted belt.
While equipped, the Diver vest will allow the wearer to remain underwater for an indefinite period of time. However, it is significantly heavier to wear compared to the other loadouts. Additionally, the lack of extra pouches and bags means that its storage capacity is sharply reduced, resulting in a staggering reduction of ~ 83% capacity versus the MG variant (90 "mass" compared to the latter's 220).
Although its appearance would suggest otherwise, the Diver vest does have (very slight) ballistic- and explosive-resistant properties. The abdomen, diaphragm and pelvis each have a base armour value of 8 and a damage reduction modifier of 50%. Rifle calibre rounds cannot be stopped by the vest, though it is capable of allowing the wearer to survive being struck by a single 7.62 mm pistol bullet at point blank range.
Lastly, it should be noted that even though the flotation device covers the wearer's upper chest, it is not protected and will not reduce damage from gunfire and explosions.
Trivia[]
- SEAL vests were not originally available upon S.O.G.'s release and were only included after Update 1.1.[1]
- Update 1.2 fixed minor issues with shadow bleeding on the models that could be seen from certain angles.[2]
