The Viet Cong (short form: VC) is a REDFOR faction in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
The National Liberation Front, more formally the "National Front for the Liberation of the South" (Vietnamese: Mặt trận Dân tộc Giải phóng Miền Nam Việt Nam), is made up of South Vietnamese guerillas supporting the North in its struggle to unify the South under a Communist government. They operate out of bases concealed deep within the jungles and tunnel networks all over South Vietnam.[1]
The Viet Cong is divided up into a "Main Force" that consists of regulars who mainly support PAVN assaults on strategic targets in the South. The "Regional Security Forces" on the other hand, comprises of local guerillas supported by reconnaissance elements who stage raids and targeted attacks against Southern military forces.[2]
Equipment[]
Main Force and Regional Security units extensively utilise Chinese and Soviet-made hardware supplied from the North. Depending on the region, some may even operate colonial French and Second World War-era weapons.
For Main Force units, their uniforms primarily consist of green-coloured outfits and pith helmets. However, Regional Security units prefer to wear black or blue uniforms and straw hats/boonies instead. The Viet Cong rarely operate armoured vehicles and rely mostly on fire support provided by artillery guns supplied by the North or tanks captured from ARVN stocks.

- Just like its parent faction, Viet Cong fighters utilise a dedicated Vietnamese radio protocol but it is completely muted in regular gameplay (no audio was actually recorded for the Creator DLC's release). Ambient callouts, chatter, and shouts will only be heard via the DLC's Ambient Voices system.
