Wetsuits are uniforms worn by several BLUFOR, REDFOR and INDFOR factions in ArmA 3.
Overview[]
Made out of neoprene, Wetsuits allow for ease of movement underwater. They have a weight of 60 "mass" units[CfgWp 1] and provide enough space for storing up to 80 units worth of ammunition/items.[CfgWp 2]
Wetsuits always come with a pair of flippers which are automatically worn upon entry into water deep enough to dive under.[CfgWp 3] While not mandatory for swimming, wearing a wetsuit will allow the user to manoeuvre much more quickly both on the surface and underwater.
However, the Wetsuit only enhances the user's mobility in water and provides no other functionality. The wearer needs to bring along a Rebreather if they plan on diving for extended periods of time. Additionally, a pair of diving goggles should also be worn to avoid having blurred vision whilst submerged underwater.
Camouflage[]
- Black: All-black colour scheme. Used by NATO combat divers and the Tanoan Gendarmerie.
- Hex: Maritime version of the Hexacam camouflage pattern scheme with some black-coloured parts and khaki flippers. Exclusively worn by both Mediterranean and Pacific CSAT frogmen.
- Olive: Two-tone black/olive green colour scheme with black-coloured flippers. Only worn by the AAF's military divers.
Trivia[]
- Wetsuits will automatically "hide" any headgear worn by the user, whether it be a combat helmet or bandanna. This is because the model's LODs (Level of Detail) lacks a headgear proxy, which means that they are technically still being worn but are simply "invisible" (and will even provide ballistic/blast protection in the case of combat helmets).
- The thigh holster does not visibly show any carried sidearms as ArmA 3's Real Virtuality engine only supports displaying holstered pistol proxies on vests.
- A knife can be seen attached to the user's leg, though it is purely cosmetic and cannot be used for combat purposes.
- Prior to Game Update 1.48, a bug would cause CSAT's Hex Wetsuits to not show the wearer's face correctly.[1]
- Before the patch's fixes, CSAT Wetsuits would permanently show the default white male face ("Bayh"[2]) even if the wearer was using an Asian, African, Altian, European, or Persian identity. Even if the wearer was not using a non-white face, other white (non-Bayh) identities were affected by the bug as well.
- Following the release of the Old Man mini-campaign/scenario, the Tanoan Gendarmerie's diver units are also shown utilising the Wetsuit.[3]
- The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
- The default textures for the Wetsuit (Texture names: diver_equip_co.paa[4], diver_suit_co.paa[5]) actually remain unused within the game files. It is adorned with what appears to be a three-tone olive green/pearl white/dark green version of CSAT's Hexacam camouflage pattern with some black and grey-coloured parts.
