Zaros (Altian: ζαρός) is a settlement located on the island of Altis in the Republic of Altis and Stratis.
Overview[]
A town situated in western Altis, Zaros is often referred to as the so-called "Pine City" due to the pine groves that surround it.[1]
Aside from pine groves and its many windmills[2], Zaros also resides at the base of Riga to its south. The peak of Riga offers a superb view of the surrounding areas, including the Zaros Bay and parts of the southern peninsula, as well as the town of Therisa to the east.[1]
Zaros has a total of two chapels: one at the peak of the hill close to the town centre, and another directly next to sports field. The smaller hilltop chapel overlooks the entire town and serves as a decent vantage point for visiting tourists.[1]

The Altis-based Fuel company operates a service station on the eastern side of Zaros.
Xirolimni Dam[]
The Xirolimni Dam and its dried-up reservoir is located due north of Zaros (at grid 091-137).
Trivia[]
- Zaros' real-world counterpart on the island of Lemnos, Greece, is the village of Kontias.
- The Xirolimni Dam's lake is directly based on the real Techniti Limni Agiou Dimitriou reservoir.
- However, the in-game version is completely dried up most likely due to technical limitations with ArmA 3's Real Virtuality engine. This is because prior to the release of ARMA Reforger and the introduction of the Enfusion engine, it was not possible to simulate proper lakes without visual/movement glitches.
